Yi (Intention)
The majority of people believe that the mind exists and resides in the brain. If it were true that the mind existed only in our brain, then our experience of life would exclude sight, sound, scent taste and touch. Thought orchestrates intent. It allows us to focus our intention and awareness. Once our intent becomes conscious, it is then transformed into energy (chi) that manifests in a movement or transformation in a spiritual, physical, mental or emotional realm.
Chi (Energy)
Chi is often referred to as "life force" or energy. The universe has chi, the earth has it, and we have chi. Chi is the life force that permeates the world. Chi dwells in all living beings, is found in spaces such as homes and gardens and even inanimate objects. Chi runs through all things. When properly balanced, the Chi moves smoothly and supports, rather than fights against the space it inhabits. Balancing this energy is crucial to living a healthy and harmonious life.
Shen (Spirit)
The heart is the seat of consciousness, the most important aspect of mind, including intellectual qualities, and spiritual qualities of love, compassion and wisdom. In the quiet place of the heart, we join with a greater universal Spirit. Being centered in our heart with quiet awareness and loving-kindness creates harmony at spiritual, emotional, mental and physical levels. Becoming centered positively influences our own well-being and that of everything and everyone around us.
