Medicinal Chi (Qi) Gung and its Benefits


Asian Bodywork Therapy or "Medicinal Chi (Qi) Gung" is a way of affecting and directing qi, or the body's life force, for various kinds of benefit. It may include modalities such as Acupressure, Tui Na, Reflexology and Shiatsu to manipulate the soft tissue and influence the flow of energy in the body throughout the meridian system. Using the fingers (on some occasions the hand, arm, elbow or feet or no touch at all depending on the modality) to stimulate specific points along the meridians. When these points are activated, they release muscular tension, and promote circulation of blood and the body's life-force energy (Qi) to promote health and healing.

Using the same points as acupuncture (but without the use of needles) and traditional Chinese medicine, these various modalities apply a comfortable range of pressure, from gentle to firm. The techniques integrate well with traditional Western Medicine or other therapies such as therapeutic touch, somatic work, healing imagery, energy psychology, psychotherapy and massage therapy.
